To find the answer to this we will set up a proportion. Lets do it:- 

[tex] \frac{8}{17.50} = \frac{1}{x} [/tex]

Now we will cross multiply:-

7.50 · 1 = 17.50

Next we will divide:-

17.50 ÷ 8 = x

x = 2.18

So, $2.18 per pound of apples.
