Build a table of values, then plot it
x = 0, y = -4 (put a point at (0,-4))
x = 1, y = -5 (put a point at (1, -5))
x = -1, y = -5 (put a point at (-1, -5))

And so forth.

This is a downward open parabola centered on the y axis.
