We are given with the equation that produces carbon dioxide from the reaction of carbon and oxygen gas. This is expressed in the balanced equation: C+ O2 = CO2. The heat of reaction per mole of carbon is -393 kJ. Hence for ever 2 moles of carbon reacted, the total heat of reaction becomes -786 kJ.
